Announcements / Vita-Nex: Core 2.0.0.0 Released
« on: June 03, 2013, 12:53:03 AM »
Vita-Nex: Core 2.0.0.0 is finally here and ready for deployment with support for the latest RunUO 2.3 release.

The VNc project has been overhauled;

A lot of the old code was developed over a long period of time, which lead to a lot of inconsistencies in programming style, syntax and standards.

Everything has been cleaned from the ground-up and is fully compliant with current programming standards.

The project has been optimized to be both functional and efficient and has been rigorously tested to ensure that the chances of a bug or exploit are extremely slim, if not non-existent.

Vita-Nex: Core has been running stable and efficient on the Pandora UO Free-Shard for over a year and a special thanks goes to the shard owner, Konstantine, for his generous support of the project and its' development. Without his funding, motivation and keen attitude for completion, VNc would still be just an idea on a forum thread confined to the Necromancer's constant resurrections.

And here, I present you the link that you've been waiting for;

http://www.assembla.com/spaces/vita-nex_core

Oh, I almost forgot!
I moved the project over to Assembla, it's extremely reliable and user-friendly, so enjoy ;)

{!} Unfortunately, this version of VNc is not backward-compatible with the old version and it's saved data; If you have a pre-existing install of VNc, I recommend completely removing it before installing 2.0.0.0.
The Items/Mobiles that were released in older versions will still be compatible with your world saves: the new VNc still has the code for them, so don't worry about wiping things on world load!

Install:
  • Drag & Drop everything in a new empty folder inside your RunUO ./Scripts/ directory. ***
  • ???
  • Profit!

*** I recommend a path like: RunUO/Scripts/VitaNexCore

I will begin creating Wiki pages on Assembla soon and will attempt to document as much as possible whenever I get a chance, so please be patient.

General Support / Re: General questions about VNc
« on: October 20, 2012, 07:48:13 PM »
I will be adding a comprehensive documentation section to this site to cover everything found in the VitaNexCore library, I've just managed to finish standardizing the modules and services; how they are designed and accessed - this was the last step to finalizing the project.
I will be looking to upload version 1.0 (Final) to the project SVN within the next couple of days, providing nothing comes up to stop me.

Announcements / Vita-Nex: CoreAPI
« on: July 06, 2012, 12:12:14 PM »
In order to provide a unique service to VNc users, I will be introducing a RESTful API that will allow shards to connect to this website and perform specific tasks.

Shard owners will be able to sign up and input all of their server information, they will be given a public and private API key for use with the CoreAPI service.

The main premise for this is the foundation development for a server listing feature for VNc, in shorter words, a Top 100 site.

The API will provide such features as Vote Verification, where a shard may connect to the CoreAPI in order to verify a player's vote and enable the shard to reward the player instead of relying on player trust - In most cases and implementations, a shard that gives rewards for voting usually does so at the same time the browser window is opened, this is no good if the player just closes the browser - So I offer a solution.

Many other features will be added to the API over time and will be available to registered shard owners when the service becomes fully available.

I am currently writing the back-end of the API, there is no interface yet but it will be neatly integrated into this SMF website in the near future.

For testing purposes, you can view the API Test page for an example of the response the API will give;

Thanks to all for your continued support!
